Q: What do I need in order to use Blumoo Voice?

A: You will need a Blumoo HomeBase, the iOS app and an Echo, Amazon Fire TV (w/ voice remote) or Echo Dot.

Q: Does the iOS device have to be present?

A: Yes, the iOS device acts as the bridge between the Echo and HomeBase so it must be within 150ft. and powered on with the app running in the background (the device can be asleep or you can be using other apps).

Q: How do I start setup?

A: In settings, enable "Advanced Features" to start the setup.  NOTE: make sure you have selected a TV guide provider or it will NOT register your device properly.

Q: How does Blumoo voice work?

A: When you talk to your Amazon device with Alexa support it sends the commands to our skill which talks to our app on your phone to send the corresponding IR codes to the HomeBase.

Q: It says I am not registered?

A: You have to register in the Blumoo application by ENABLING advanced features in the app settings.  If you enter the code and then it still says you aren't registered, that is because you haven't selected a TV guide provider.  Select a TV guide provider in settings, then toggle Blumoo Voice off/on to register again and all will work.

Q: Why do I get a push notification every time I say a command?

A: The Alexa skill communicates with the Blumoo app on your phone via push notifications. This also provides visual feedback that your request was processed and sent.

Q: Can I use multiple Echo’s or Fire TV’s with multiple HomeBases?

A: Today you can only use one Amazon account per Blumoo HomeBase. This is due to a feature we are waiting for from Amazon to distinguish between Echo’s and Fire TV’s on the same Amazon account. You can use multiple Amazon devices with multiple Blumoo HomeBases – but each Echo device will have to be logged into a different Amazon account.
